Merajuk pada yang sayang; mengharap pada yang sudi

I was fumbled when one of my colleagues mentioned the above quote to a few of us.  I asked her whether she believes in the meaning of the quote. She said, of course, and she was adamant in insisting that you would only be sulking to the person you love so that you will get to be wheedled by him/her.

I asked her again what if you are sulking and the person ignores you. She said, to her, his/her love does not exist or questionable.  She continued to explain - the quote was written by the Wise centuries ago and those wise people won't be writing quotes if it is not true. It makes me ponder...does love exist after all? Or it was merely fulfilling responsibility?

Well, I stopped sulking and hoping loooooong time ago since it wastes my time and energy. No point. I have never been wheedled when I was/ am sulking. I'd end up feeling frustrated and sorrowful. Over the years, I had learnt to accept the setbacks.  I learnt to be less sensitive and become tough emotionally. Consequently, do not complain if I am less sensitive to my surroundings.

I have stopped sulking
I have stopped hoping

What remains?

Love for Allah.
I will not feel frustrated and that is for sure.

Fantasy vs Reality No 4

One fine night in the bedroom

Fantasy
A: Dear, I'm going out station tomorrow could you please pack my bag for five days?
B: All right, Dear.  Which bag are you taking with you?
A: I think that black one on the right would do.  Thanks Dear.
B: No problem.  My pleasure.

Reality
A: I'm going out station tomorrow could you please pack my bag for five days?
B: All right, Dear.  Which bag are you taking with you?
A: Do you need to ask which bag? Don't you know which bag I usually bring?

Fantasy vs Reality No 3

Their child is having a fever one afternoon.  After attending to the child, sponged him and gave him medicine, the temperature is still high.  B decided to call A at the office to seek comfort.

Fantasy

B: Hello dear.  I call to tell you that our child is having a fever.  I've given him medicine but the temperature won't go down.
A:  All right, don't panic dear. I am sorry that I can't go back now and you have to handle it alone. Please call a cab and take him to a clinic.  Don't worry too much.  He'll get better soon.

Reality

B: Hello dear.  I call to tell you that our child is having a fever.  I've given him medicine but the temperature won't go down.
A: Why do you call me? Can't you take him to a clinic?  You know even if you call me I can't do anything! Just call a cab and go!

Fantasy vs Reality No 2

Lunch time

Fantasy

B is serving lunch while A waits at the dining table.  When lunch is served..
A: Wow! Looks delicious! Thank you dear.  Come and sit beside me and let's have lunch together.

Reality

B is serving lunch while A waits at the dining table.  When lunch is served..
A:  The chair I am sitting is creaking. (Change chair) While I am having lunch, go and get the tools and tighten all these chairs.

Fantasy vs Reality No 1

On a Sunday morning.

Fantasy

A:  What is for breakfast?
B:  I thought you would wake up late as usual, so I am preparing lunch.
A:  Oh, well.  It is okay. Let's go and have breakfast outside then.

Reality

A:  What is for breakfast?
B:  I thought you would wake up late as usual, so I am preparing lunch.
A:  Come on!  It's Sunday. I thought Sunday is the only day I could enjoy a decent breakfast at home.
B:  I am really sorry. (Numb but continue cooking for lunch since A has gone out)

When A returns,
B:  So you still want me to prepare for your breakfast?
A:  Don't bother! I have taken my breakfast outside!

Drifting apart

Letting it go

She has finally decided to let her wish go. No harm letting it go.  She would just let it go. Yes, let the frustration go. Yes, let the sadness go.  Yes, let the anger go.

She sees no point in sulking and crying.  Life is short any way.  If she can't get it now, it would always be later.  If she can't have it here, she might have it in the hereafter.  Her life is solely meant for the Almighty.  She feels very much better after talking to herself and confiding in Allah. Her course hands have never been held.  Her beautiful eyes have never been looked into.  Her cheeks have never been caressed.  Her shoulders have never been wrapped around. She was never offered shoulders for her to lean on. Her feelings was unheeded.  She knows she deserves more but she dares not complain.  Her happiness does not depend on people or things. Her goal is clear...she is aiming for Jannah - to live in paradise in the here after.
